Celebrating Our Legacy & Heritage
Our Legacy & Heritage
Over 50 years ago, a group of Baladians established an organisation to preserve their culture and connect with fellow community members in the UK.
Today, their legacy lives on as the community thrives, celebrating successes in business, education, and culture throughout the year.
Baladia Sarvodal is a shining example of the power of selfless seva. Through the tireless efforts of countless individuals, this non-profit organisation can make a tremendous impact in various areas such as food preparation, IT, event management, accounts, and entertainment. With the help of dedicated volunteers, Baladians extend their seva to many organisations such as temples, charities, sports clubs, as well as SKLPC events. It is truly inspiring to see so many people coming together to make a positive difference in their communities.
Their dedication and hard work have helped create a beacon of hope for those who wish to preserve their cultural heritage and connect with the Kutchi community in the UK. Baladia Sarvodal’s commitment to preserving the Baladian culture is an inspiration for all those who value their roots and strive to create a brighter future for themselves and their community.
President’s Statement
Shree Baladia Leva Patel Sarvodal (UK) also known as ‘Baladia Sarvodal’ has been in existence for over 50 years. It is a testament to its members that it continues to be relevant today for 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation immigrants from Baladia gaam.
Baladia Sarvodal provides social infrastructure for UK residents with longstanding connections to Baladia gaam. Such connections are kept alive by social events, activities and communication to encourage members to network with one another. Personal and business connections are created as well as philanthropic relations.
It is this Committee’s aim to retain existing members and to attract new qualifying members. We seek to ensure the financial viability of the organisation for the future, through the management of existing funds and the raising of further funds to maintain current and future activities. We also seek to ensure that Baladia gaam continues to be relevant in the lives of all our members.
To ensure our members are afforded opportunities to participate and network on a larger stage, we work closely with our umbrella organisation Shree Kutch Leva Patel Community (UK) commonly known as ‘SKLPC’. There are opportunities for members of Baladia gaam to get involved in the India Gardens project which will serve as the new social cultural home for our wider community. Any support, be it physical (e g. getting involved in the building work), financial or moral will hugely benefit us all and our future generations.

Acknowledgement
This Committee acknowledges the work of our forefathers and foremothers in their sacrifices to seek a better life for their families.
Many such individuals went on to extend their support to the wider community as well as their fellow Baladia gaam family.
Laxman Bhimji Raghwani, Lakhu Bapa as he was affectionately known, was one such person. During his lifetime, he and his family were regular donors to Baladia gaam, not only financially but also physically and morally.
Lakhu Bapa departed this earth in 2023 but he has left a lasting legacy and through his charitable activities, his origin from Baladia gaam will continue to be remembered for many generations to come.
